“Sex Gallery” Decorates Dinner Tables Across The Globe With Erotic Conversation Pieces Of Art From Acclaimed Danish Artist

sexmythsexposedgetsaspankingfromplaymatesTalking ’bout want can’t be mentioned, the bestial, even the uncivilized has become conversational at the dinner table by Louise Hindsgavi from Denmark“Playmates” is one such creation, a figurine that comes from a parallel world, similar to ours, yet different in it’s mutinous adaptation of civilized life.  Some of her porcelain artworks look like toys and are recognizably contemporary in design. It’s as though the world of mythology has sprung from the pages of Shakespeare and is challenging ‘good taste’ with animal heads atop of deformed human bodies depicted as having sex, or ripping at their chests, or getting tattooed.

Back in the 18th century, figurines were considered an erotic conversational piece. They were put on dinner tables to put a spark in high society’s dinner parties. These artworks were essentially pastoral scenes with provocative yet bold symbolism and erotic undertones.  This kind of art was supposed to encourage a lighter atmosphere and blur language boundaries.

In an idealized world in which everything is seen as perfect with no grey areas, Louise’s figurines highlight what many people hide within themselves behind a veneer of morality.

POETIC VOYEURISM

INTIMATE SENSUAL VOYEURS AWAKEN THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY

exposing the beauty of nakedness that is not sexualRyan McGinley is an artist to watch out for.  The buzz is building around this New York based award-winning photographer. “I photograph the things people do every day…with athletic gestures of Sports Illustrated, the landscape of a Patagonia catalogue and the sensuality of early 70’s porn.”

His often nude, voyeuristic portraits are a poetic expression of his unique creative spirit, capturing candid
and intimate moments of the people around him.

“I’m endlessly fascinated by nude photographs- it’s just one of those unexplained things,” says Ryan.

As we the watchers of the watched, voyeurs ourselves, relish in the impossible to overlook theme in Ryan’s artworks, we are enthralled by his ability to enlighten us and open our minds to the explicit beauty of nakedness.
