AN INTIMATE LOOK INTO AUSTRALIAN FAMILY LAW
Only last week, I had a memorable life experience. I appeared as a witness in an Australian Family Law matter. This did not come about overnight. This Family Law process has gone on for longer than I can count the fingers on my right hand, and has been called to trial for a total number of fingers I have on my left hand.
Resolution has a price.
Whilst in the witness box, during the court proceedings, I experienced a Family Law Barrister who was determined to extract verbal statements from me according to her agenda. Like Lisa and Bart from the TV show, The Simpsons, who hounded their father, all day and all night, until he cracked, and gave them the answer they wanted to hear. The Family Law Barrister applied the same tactics.
The Family Law Barrister was likened to a pit bull that had clamped its incisor filled jaw upon my leg, applying more and more pressure with its bite, until the recognizable command for release was given.
Truth, forced and manipulated, no longer remains truth. It becomes a distortion of reality.
Upon reflection of this event, I realized that the Family Law Barrister’s intent was just the same as the man who punches his woman partner in the face and asks, “Do you love me?” The delivery by the Family Law Barrister was different to the man’s, yet the outcome was the same - a contrived result.
The Secret – reflecting on life’s events gives insight into the general happenings of life’s situations, raising awareness of what emotional intelligence is, and is not.
Be sure to look for our next post in relation to our Family Law experience.
Shele.
